............................................................................

Located on the west side of Texada Island, south of Gillies Bay. Shelter Point (Harwood Point) is known for its safe harbour and pebble beaches to the south and west sides of Dick Island.

Peter Staaf was contracted in 1912 to build a wharf which extended out 600 feet from shore. Remnants of the pilings are still seen there today.

As many as four log dumps, a Home Oil Bulk Plant and various homes were at one time located there.

Local residents recognized the beauty and the need to preserve this area and in the early 1960s proceeded to establish a park, now administered by the regional district.
